i think i'm getting sick
Maybe it's the weather: the recent change in temperature, the seemingly endless rain. Or the fact that I've been averaging five-and-half hours of sleep a night since school started in September. Or maybe it's my uncanny ability to get sick at the worst possible times.
Whatever the reason, the fact remains that my body seems to have decided that now is a good time to have a cold. I've been feeling it coming since yesterday. At first I thought it was my lungs and throat recovering from my run outside in the afternoon (another possible culprit), but as I went to bed last night I had a nagging feeling that wasn't it. All day today, I went through those classic pre-cold symptoms: I was tired, and a little achy, my throat was beginning to feel a little funny and I was sneezing a little more than normal. Overall, I was fine through all six hours of class, but by the time I got home around 5:30 I just suddenly felt exhausted - not a good sign.
I went to the grocery store to get some chicken soup, and after dinner, I decided I would lay on my bed and do some reading for class in the hope that relaxing might make me feel less tired so I could get some writing done. Well, about six pages in, my eyes started drooping. A nap seemed like a very good idea, and I promptly passed out for the next two-and-half hours. I probably could've used that time to get work done, but then I'm not usually a big napper, so if I slept that long, I probably needed it.
I've gradually been feeling worse all night and gargled with some salt water and dug out my bag of Ricolas. Now it's time for bed and praying that I don't get much worse tomorrow since I have a lot of work to do. At least I'll have an excuse if I fall asleep in class.
